Coventry City Chocolate Brown Retro Shirt
Coventry City have announced to fans that they will be wearing their infamous chocolate brown kit when they play Watford in the final home game of the 2008/09 Coca Cola Championship season at the Ricoh Arena on April 24th.
When the club first played in the brown kit back in 1978 it caused quite a stir in the footballing world and became a favourite with supporters, making it one of the most popular retro shirts worn by fans today, even if it is often voted one of the worst football kits of all-time.

125th Anniversary Brown Retro Shirt
Fans can pre-order this commemorative version from the club shop at the Ricoh Arena on Sunday December 28th and if stocks remains, from the clubs website on the following Monday. Only 1,125 adult shirts are being produced, no kids versions will be made available as the club have said this was not commerically viable for Puma.
Talking about the kit on the club’s website, Coventry City’s commercial director Nathan Kosky explained:
“We were looking to do something special for the final home game of our 125th season and it was suggested that the players wear an iconic kit from the club’s history. And when people talk about iconic football strips, City’s brown jersey from the 1970s is one of the most talked about in English football. I have been asked whether the club would be releasing a brown kit since my very first day in the job, so I am sure fans will be eager to snap up their own shirt.”
