Brazil Home Shirts in the 80’s

Brazils’ home shirt in 1981, was, as always, the countries traditional shiny yellow. Made by Topper, the shirt consisted of its’ retro National badge, and the manufacturers logo. It was simplistic in its’ look, which is perhaps why it was so popular and is not too dissimilar to the Brazilian shirt of today. The shirt had a dark green outline around the sleeves and collar, resemblent of the national flag.

Whilst the 1982-83 Brazil shirt was not too different to its’ descendant, it did appear brighter on the eye, and shinier too. Also, the Topper logo had changed and looked much more modern than the old one.

Just like its’ two previous kits, Brazils ‘new’ home strip didn’t seem to different, and was probably a bit of a let down at the time to the Brazilian supporters. However, there was one major change- the collar. Rarely before had any national side worn an ‘actual collar’, that could be folded up or down, as opposed to the rounded or v-neck collar. This was a change that would resemble to many more kits over the coming years/

Brazil stuck to their home shirt for the next three years after this one was launched. Quite similar to the previous kit, this too might have been a bit of a let down for the Samba fans. This kit was, as usual, golden yellow, with green outlines, and made by Topper as it was throughout the 80’s. This was exactly the same as the 1894-85 away kit, but in yellow instead of blue.
